Your Puppy – Every Step of The Way

With help, your new puppy will develop into a physically healthy, well-adjusted adult. She’s going to need play time, rest, vaccinations and more. Check out what you need to do to ensure she gets the very best start in life to grow into a healthy and happy adult dog.

Puppy Vaccinations

Your puppy should receive her vaccinations at intervals based on your veterinarian’s recommendation.

Puppy Behaviors

  • Now is the perfect time to start socialization because puppies are highly receptive to it. While this is the most important time for socialization to occur, it should continue throughout your dog’s life.

  • Your puppy should also learn how to be on her own, away from people and littermates. Start by leaving her alone for short periods of time (minutes) and then gradually increase the duration of these periods over time.

  • Puppies have a lot of energy, but they also tire easily. Make sure your puppy gets plenty of quiet time to sleep or just relax. After your puppy has received the full series of vaccinations, socialize her at a local dog park.

  • Puppy socialization and obedience training can be entertaining for both you and your puppy. Remember to start early and have lots of fun!

Keep your puppy’s experiences fun and positive. What she learns now will eventually help her turn into a healthy, and emotionally and behaviorally balanced, adult dog. Your new puppy will keep you busy during these first few months but the time and effort will help you form a bond that will last a lifetime.
